Investigators from the Carter County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a fatal shooting that occurred at a residence on McKeehan Ridge Road in the Powder Branch Community of Carter County. At this time details of the shooting are not available pending further investigation. The Victim, Kenneth Younce, was pronounced deceased at the scene and the assailant, Sonya E Babb, 54, was taken into custody and transported to the Carter County Detention Center. Ms. Babb is currently being held at the jail and is charged with first degree murder. The Sheriff’s Office will release further information about this case as it becomes available.
