Carter County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested a Stony Creek man late Thursday evening after investigators discovered a video of the man requesting sexual favors from a juvenile.
59-year-old Joseph Walter Sampson is charged with Solicitation of a Minor. Investigators became aware of the incident after the child’s mother discovered the video. The mother showed the video to investigators, which contains visual and audio footage of Sampson making multiple requests for sexual favors. The child’s mother told investigators that Sampson had threatened to commit suicide if law enforcement was notified.
Investigators then wrote warrants for Sampson’s arrest, and deputies took him into custody at his residence on Highway 91.
Sampson is currently being held in the Carter County Detention Center on a $25,000 bond.
