Kelly Lee Pitts was found guilty Thursday of seven counts of attempted first degree murder after a four day trial in Washington County.
The convictions came as a result of a 2015 shooting on Dry Hollow Road during which Pitts shot Deputy Jenna Markland. 39-year-old Pitts was also convicted on seven counts of use of a firearm during the commission of a dangerous felony.
“After everything we went through that night, and especially after everything Deputy Markland went through, we were glad to see justice was served,” Sheriff Dexter Lunceford said.
Pitts is scheduled to appear in Washington County court May 17 for sentencing.
