Elizabethton Man Arrested on Methamphetamine Charges

Carter County Sheriff’s Deputies arrested 37-year-old Adam Derek Shell for Schedule II drug violations during a traffic stop early Saturday morning.

Shell was pulled over after a deputy found that the license plate on the vehicle he was driving did not match his registration. Shell also had an active warrant for a failure to appear at a child support court hearing, and a check of his driver’s license revealed that it was revoked.

After placing under arrest, the deputy conducted a search of Shell’s person and found methamphetamine in his pocket. In addition to the Schedule II drug violations charge, Shell is also charged with improper vehicle registration and driving while revoked.

Shell is being held in the Carter County Detention Center on a $12,500 bond.
