Today’s senior citizens are more independent and active in their communities than ever before.  However, a third of our local seniors live alone.

Carter County Seniors and Lawmen Together (SALT) and the Carter County Sheriff’s Office have teamed up to help our seniors in need.

Through the Elder Care program, deputies will check on seniors that do not receive regular visits from family or friends. Seniors who opt-in to this program will receive a weekly phone call or in-person visit from deputies to make sure they are well.

If you are signing someone else up for Elder Care, we recommend listing yourself as one of the emergency contacts.

If you have questions, you can call the Elizabethton Senior Center at (423) 543-4362.

Live safe! Live well!
